"What can I do with these songs?"
Download:
To save a song just right-click on the title and save the link to your computer. From there you can listen to them in a music player such as iTunes, burn them to CDs or transfer to your MP3 player.
Some Rights Reserved:
This site is all about copyleft, which is quite a bit different from copyright. These artists want you to listen to and share their music, so they've relinquished some of their rights as the creators. Basically, depending on the license, these songs are not exclusive to the artist or label. You can in some cases burn, remix and share the songs (Creative Commons), and in other cases actually use the music for commercial purposes, even burning to CD to sell or putting on TV, in a video or film or on the radio as long as you say who made the music (Free Distribute). Here's the breakdown:
This is the most exciting license. The Free Distribute license also allows you to take and transform pieces of these songs for any purpose including advertising and other commercial purposes, as long as you give full credit to the artist. These songs can also be copied and distributed freely (hence the name) using practically any method, even commercially.
For example, you could burn a Free Distribute EP onto a CD and sell them for a couple bucks. This license is still in the works, so see FreeDistribute.org for more info.
Songs sporting this style of icon are licensed through a Creative Commons Sampling Plus license. You are free to take and transform pieces of these songs for any purpose other than advertising, which is prohibited. Noncommercial copying and distribution (like file-sharing) of the entire work are also allowed. Hence, "plus".
When you see this icon style the song is licensed through a Creative Commons Noncommercial Sampling Plus license. You can take and transform pieces of these songs for noncommercial purposes only. Noncommercial copying and distribution (like file-sharing) of the entire song is also allowed.
The Creative Commons Music Sharing License is probably the most restrictive of all of the music licenses here. You cannot make commercial use of the music, and you can't sample or remix it, or otherwise build upon it. Basically, you can share it and listen to it, and that's about it.

We respect your privacy, look best in firefox, and display ads to afford booze bandwidth.
Oh yeah, we love music and creative commons.
Enjoy the free music downloads. Feel free to talk back.
